blueberry boy bait

My mom has had this recipe for years but this was the first time I'd tried my hands at blueberry boy bait.
I had never paid attention to the title of this recipe until recently. And then I realized how much time I'd been wasting not making this. I found my secret weapon, in a 1969 Pillsbury bake-off cookbook. The kind of recipe collection where you'll find such things as Mexicali Meat Pie and Party Chicken Loaf. You can see below my mom scratched the 1 cup of blueberries for 2 cups - to make it extra bait-y I'm assuming. You know what though? I'd go even further and add 2 1/2 cups... maybe even 3 if I'm that daring. Regardless, this is the perfect morning coffee cake and it's just so simple to make. All you single ladies out there, here's to blueberry boy bait ;)

Blueberry Boy Bait
2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup butter, softened
1 cup milk
2 eggs
2 cups blueberries
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350°. In large mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter, milk and eggs. Blend at low speed until dry ingredients are moistened; beat at medium speed for 3 minutes. Pour into greased and floured 13x9-inch pan. Arrange blueberries on top. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over top. Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes until cake springs back when touched lightly in the center. Cut into squares.

Recipe comes from Pillsbury's Treasury of Bake Off Favourites with a few of my own changes.
